Jon Wicker Update - 11/18

I am back to work on a very limited basis, but back on the job nonetheless.

The cast and collar came off as scheduled on November 2nd. I have a corset that I am supposed to wear while I am "working" to help support my back. I still can not lift anything more than 5 pounds and I have to be very careful about not twisting or stepping onto uneven ground.

The doctor said I could meet with shooters and do very limited non-strenuous things that would roughly equate to about a couple of hours a day. When I have done this, I can tell you, I am pretty wiped out afterwards. My last CT Scan showed that my neck is roughly 90% healed. My back was not as good. The doctor said my back was only, at best, 50%. The area where the burst fracture occurred was a source of his concern. He decided that I was good enough to take the cast off, but cautioned me to be vey careful.

My latest issue seems to be my teeth. I have had some chunks of a back molar just fall off the tooth. I am headed to NYC tomorrow to see a dentist about what may be a case where, when I fell from the tower and my head hit the ground, I may have slammed my teeth together from the impact causing small fractures in my teeth. If I can catch it in time, the dentist may be able to locate these fractures through X-rays, and then apply a bonding agent to my teeth to stop them from any further tooth loss. Hopefully, that will solve this issue.

Other than that, it feels great to get back into some daily routine. My first shower was nothing short of amazing. It's coming back to me, but if I press it, I pay for it at night, so I am realizing that the doctor is absolutely spot on with his assessment of my condition. It is simply going to take time and I can not change that fact.

I will see you in a few weeks. Say hi to everyone for me......

Cheers! Jon

Glad you are healing.

So good to hear the news on the removal of the brace and your progress.  Take care and god bless.
